Produced in China,
consciously.
That's right, we actually produce in China. But what does this have to do with sustainability, you ask?
Let's dig a little deeper here. In addition to the production location, the production of a good product has a lot to do with the manufacturer, its quality and working conditions, right? And even though China doesn't have the best reputation when it comes to these points, that doesn't mean that every factory in China is bad. On the contrary, if you strive to find the right production partner in China, then you will find it - like we did.
In the search for a manufacturer aligned with our company philosophy, a crucial aspect was optimizing the supply chains as efficiently as possible. Given that the majority of global stainless steel production already takes place in China, it seemed most logical to place the production of our stainless steel bottles at the origin of the raw material.
Furthermore, it was essential for us to develop a product that could be used by as many people as possible, thus having a significant impact on the environment. To make this possible, a production in the EU was only partially feasible. The high costs associated with stainless steel production in a European country would have been reflected in the selling price of the insulated bottle, making it less affordable.
In the end, we care less about the production location, but rather about the quality, the working conditions and a harmonious collaboration with the manufacturer, who in turn can ensure that our products are affordable for you.
Of course, it is still clear that the goods from China have to travel a long way to Germany - that harms our environment. For this reason, we have decided to invest part of our profits in environmental protection and thus in future generations. We are working to compensate for our ecological footprint and to do our part, and therefore your part, in environmental protection with environmental projects.
We therefore remain of the opinion that production in China can be combined with good quality, high standards and sustainability if you have found the right partner.

Our current influence &
future improvements
Two things are clear to us. Firstly, we know that no one is perfect, no company, no brand and ultimately no person. Secondly, every business activity causes emissions and pollutes our environment. However, we believe that it is about not accepting this situation, but rather looking for possibilities and improvements.
Guided by these principles, we at noma noma want to take responsibility and work step by step towards a more conscious future. To achieve this, we want to holistically approach a more sustainable future with the following 3 pillars.
And basically we already do that. We already use 85% recycled stainless steel for our products and reduce the proportion of plastic components to a minimum. Our products are designed and manufactured to last forever. The use of FSC-certified packaging materials and organic cotton in our cotton bags also contributes to this.
But even using better materials does not actually avoid CO₂ emissions, which is why we offset 100% of the emissions for our products with the support of our partner Climate Partner.
And even if you can support wonderful projects by offsetting CO₂ emissions, this is not a solution for eternity, but just another step towards a better future. The long-term goal in sustainable business must be not to offset emissions, but to reduce them.
For this reason, we want to make adjustments not only now but also in the future and have planned the following improvements, among others:
- Switching from fossil plastics to organic plastics.
- Offsetting CO₂ emissions, not only at the product level, but also at the company level.
- Switching to more sustainable import routes - especially rail freight.
- Reduce company trips to train journeys and largely avoid flights.
- Further develop products for maximum longevity.
